A site visit to a facility in the Midlands will take place at the beginning of October looking at novel husbandry and care practices and non-invasive techniques. This will be for a limited number of people only. Booking forms are available now; bone fide members may apply for a booking form by contacting lasa@btconnect.com

 

A joint meeting with the International Society for Transgenic Technologies was a two-day meeting held in June 2007in North London. The title was 'Transgenics - 'Back to basics ..... and beyond' . Topics considered included:

Day 1

  • Mice under the microscope
  • Cryopreservation and Assisted Reproduction
  • Supplementary techniques and refinements
  • Transgenics - construct design and microinjection technique
  • Knockouts - Gene targetting, culture and injection
  • Considerations and approaches to Phenotyping Genetically Engineered Rodent Models

Day 2

  • RNAi and transgenics
  • Nuclear transfer
  • What's in a name? Understanding transgenic nomenclature
  • ICSI - Piezo, Laser or both?
  • Sperm mediated transgenesis - ICSI and YACS
  • Producing mice fully derived from ES cells
