CERTIFICATE HOLDERS' FORUM
The Certificate Holders’ Forum (CHF) has existed for approximately 10 years, operating through a small committee and is a loose affiliation of Certificate Holders, their deputies and others involved in the administration of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act (A(SP)A). Its main activities are the organisation of an annual training event for new Certificate of Designation holders, an annual forum in October and more recently, CPD events. The CHF will work with the other LASA Sections on topics mutually relevant to our membership and to promote better communication between Certificate Holders and the animal science community. The CHF also liaises with the Home Office Inspectorate on strategic matters related to the A(SP)A (e.g. Better Regulation).
Forthcoming MeetingsCertificate Holders Forum The Certificate Holders Forum in association with the Home Office have arranged for a briefing of Certificate Holders on the progress of the Directive 2010/63/EU. The meeting will be devoted to the imminent transposition of the Directive into UK legislation and the development of new Codes of Practice and Guidance documents and how this new legislation will impact on the role and responsibilities of the Certificate Holder. Past Meetings
The meeting on 7 February, 2011 was devoted to the potential impact of the new EU Directive in relation to the role of the Certificate Holder, their responsibilities, and the associated issues of compliance.
At the meeting on 12 October, 2010 members agreed unanimously that the CHF should remain as a specialist section of LASA. A new chair has been appointed and it was proposed that the organising committee should seek new members. It was also recommended that the CHF should take a more active role in LASA in future.
Certificate Holders' Forum meetings were held in October 2009, May and November 2008.
