THREE Rs SECTION
The 3Rs Section shares knowledge on and promotes all aspects of this vast subject; it provides a forum within which members can discuss strategies and techniques, available or proposed, for the replacement reduction and refinement of animal use in scientific studies. It provides a vehicle for members to share ideas and practices and to promote the uptake of the 3Rs within LASA and beyond.
Forthcoming Meetings18 May 2010 Dog housing, husbandry and enrichment – towards new standards. The LASA 3Rs Section has joined forces with UFAW to offer this one day meeting. Venue: north of London, close to major road and rail links. Please note this will be a focussed meeting, so attendance is limited to 40. Past Meetings
11 February, 2009: Assessing the impact of
housing and environmental enrichment. The LASA 3Rs section, with UFAW, held a one-day meeting on enrichment, its effects on animals and whether or not we should be concerned about experimental outcomes.
8 March 2007: A one-day meeting on ‘Environmental Enrichment for Fish and other aquatic species’, attended by over 50 delegates at AstraZeneca, Loughborough. This meeting discussed the requirements of zebrafish for environmental enrichment and share experiences, ideas and methods to implement this. Applications to basic research and toxicity testing were covered.
