THREE Rs SECTION
The 3Rs Section shares knowledge on and promotes all aspects of this vast subject; it provides a forum within which members can discuss strategies and techniques, available or proposed, for the replacement reduction and refinement of animal use in scientific studies. It provides a vehicle for members to share ideas and practices and to promote the uptake of the 3Rs within LASA and beyond.

Past Meetings
18 May, 2010: The LASA 3Rs section joined forces with UFAW to offer a one day meeting Dog housing, husbandry and enrichment – towards new standards.
11 February, 2009: Assessing the impact of housing and environmental enrichment. The LASA 3Rs section, with UFAW, held a one-day meeting on enrichment, its effects on animals and whether or not we should be concerned about experimental outcomes.
8 March 2007: A one-day meeting on ‘Environmental Enrichment for Fish and other aquatic species’, attended by over 50 delegates. This meeting discussed the requirements of zebrafish for environmental enrichment and share experiences, ideas and methods to implement this. Applications to basic research and toxicity testing were covered.
